The line ran from late 2006 through mid-2008, and became one of the more popular series of figures ever released. The 30th Annversary Collection featured a unique mix of characters from the original and prequel trilogies, the “expanded universe,” and the mind of Ralph McQuarrie. Figures in the line were issued on a new style of card, which was diecut and featured artwork of the character, rather than a photo. Figures also included a coin with the character's likeness, much like Kenner did with “Power of the Force” figures in the 1980's. Many of the characters had not been made into figures before, and were a big hit with collectors. Many of the figures released in the 30th Anniversary Collection were reissues of previously released figures (under the Saga Legends brand as well as in Battle Packs) which were often repainted. Some figures were hard to find initially, like the Darktrooper. Hasbro also released a number of characters from the “Expanded Universe” of books, comics, cartoons, and video games. This included the animated Boba Fett from the Star Wars Holiday Special, Darth Malak from the “Knights of the Old Republic” video game, and a tattooed Anakin from “Clone Wars.” The video game “The Force Unleashed” also saw a number of their characters released as figures, including a battle-damaged Darth Vader, Juno Eclipse, and Maris Brood. ...
