La Petit Salon #818

COLUMBUS — Platte Chateau Salon #818 met at the Holiday Inn Express for their informal April meeting. La Chapeau Mary Ann Otte opened the meeting with five partners in attendance. The minutes and treasurer’s reports were given. Pennies were collected for the Nurses Scholarship. Pennies will also be collected at the May meeting. Correspondence was read from Departmental Le Chapeau Charlene Walters in regard to new pins and handbooks. La Caissiere Gala Schmid will order new pins for partners if needed. Plans were made to go to the Area D meeting in Omaha at the Old Country Buffet on April 28. The meeting was adjourned with partners reading the Obligation. Three partners, Mickey Behlen, Shirley Winkle and Dorothy Wolfe, went to Omaha on April 28 to attend the Area D meeting at the Old Country Buffet. Dee Acquisino from the Nebraska Medical Center, gave updates on Cystic Fibrosis. She passed out information sheets about the CF Foundation, statistics and the sweat test. That is the test for screening patients. All states are now doing the sweat test on newborn infants. She reported about new drugs being developed and new drugs waiting for approval by the FDA. Departmental Le Chapeau Charlene Walters read the eligibility rules for new members from the new handbook. Membership is down so invite guests to your meetings as prospective members. Charlene also encouraged everyone to attend the annual Marche in Kearney at the Ramada Inn on July 20-21. A memorial service was held for deceased members since our last Area D meeting. Nine members were remembered. The meeting was closed with the reciting of the Obligation. Each partner received a door prize.
